We moved onto five acres of rainforest in the Sunshine Coast hinterland in 1997. For nine years we kept busy learning all about growing things from root crops, fruit and vegetables to rainforest plants and bush tucker trees. In 2006 we bought Mount Eerwah Park, a much larger property near Eumundi, thinking we might like to try something different. Eventually we decided breeding miniature cattle was something we would like to try. As first time livestock owners, we didn't know anything about miniature cattle. We had no idea what was required or which miniature breed would suit us. After much research, farm visiting and deliberation we decided we needed docile, polled cattle. We also wanted good little mothers that would consistently calve unassisted. Then we saw the Miniature White Galloways. Not only did they tick all the boxes they were drop dead gorgeous into the bargain! The decision to start with Miniature White Galloway cattle was made in a heartbeat. In fairness to the cattle and because of our inexperience, we bought two Miniature White Galloway steers as our ‘training wheels’. Within months we had fallen in love with ‘our boys’. They were so gentle, affectionate and easy to handle we could hardly believe it! Within months we started looking for breeding cows. The breeders of Miniature White Galloway cattle that we met during our search were warm, wonderful people who helped us in every way they could. We found two registered full blood females and had our first Miniature White Galloway calves on the property in 2007. Mountain View was decided on as the name for our stud (because of the magnificent mountain views in every paddock) and we registered it with the Australian Galloway Association. The pride and pleasure that these small cattle brought to our small acreage (and into our lives) was HUGE.

In 2008 we decided we wanted to build our Miniature White Galloway herd and have some even smaller miniature cattle as well. So we introduced a breeding program to do just that. Using full blood and pure bred cattle only, meant that we had stand alone, high value cattle with each generation. These beautifully bred miniature cattle, joined with our little white Galloway bulls, are now producing our first tiny ‘designer cattle’. The number of head in our little herd rises and falls every month with births and sales. It is a fairly low maintenance herd so we quite often find ourselves looking for excuses to spend time with our miniature cattle. By farming in an environmentally friendly way and breeding our cattle in a sustainable manner, we have found we are able to cohabitate with the wildlife and enjoy the best of both worlds. We get to stand in our paddocks listening to the birdlife, brushing cattle and watching the wallabies graze - bliss. Our experience with these wonderful miniature cattle led us to consider making our love of these cattle something we could share with others. We wanted other small acreage owners to discover the joy of owning these gorgeous small white cattle too. So, we built the website. Then we prepared ourselves for the reality that we would probably have to answer a lot of questions and at some point actually sell some of our beautiful ‘babies’ to others. Our property, Mount Eerwah Park, is five minutes from the market town of Eumundi, 20 minutes from the coastline and the airport on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. We are always happy to show people our beautiful, wee white, hairy cattle. Please e-mail us for further details and a phone number so you can give us a call and arrange a time and a day.
