Our Wee White and Whiteline - Designer Cattle

Wee White and Whiteline are the names we give our ‘designer cattle'. Wee Whites and Whitelines are not separate breeds of miniature cattle, but simply the names we give to the first and second of our own breeding lines of extra small Miniature White Galloways. Our Wee Whites and Whitelines are the Miniature White Galloway cattle that we are breeding to be smaller than the average miniature White Galloway. Ultimately our aim with these two breedlines is very small or micro miniature, Pure Bred Miniature White Galloways.

Miniature White Galloways are, in our opinion, the best breed of miniature cattle in Australia. However, they were not the smallest or the most readily available of the miniature cattle breeds when we started out. We wanted to build our herd numbers up and bring the size of the individual animals down, while still retaining all the good qualities of the Miniature White Galloway.  First and foremost we wanted our two  lines of smaller Miniature White Galloway cattle to be a stand alone animal of high value right from the very start. To achieve this we decided to use very small, full blood or pure bred, registered miniature cattle only. This was an expensive way to begin but the results have been well worth it.

Our Wee White and Whiteline calves are very small white, fluff balls with white, dun or black points - ears, eyes, nose and hooves. To date they have all had beautiful white, medium or full length coats. From the outset they are smaller than our full bloods, docile and friendly. All of our original heifers and cows calved successfully mid 2009. Their calves are just beautiful and perfectly formed. Our 2010 calves are even smaller and just as sweet.  These little mates are proving to be very popular with everyone who comes to buy our miniature cattle. In fact, it is becoming difficult to keep enough of them here to keep the breedline going!

As our breeding program progresses the progeny of these smaller Miniature White Galloway cattle, the little ones that we now call Wee Whites and Whitelines, will be registered as Pure Bred Miniature White Galloways. This process takes a time. Until then we will always have what we call Wee Whites and Whitelines - very very small, beautiful, high value 'designer cattle'.
